TUBITAK 1002 Project Partnership with Giresun University

One of the researchers of our center, Dr. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arif MERMER, one of the researchers of our center, is the researcher of the 1002 project titled “Synthesis of Propofol-like New Generation Hybrid Molecules and Determination of Anesthetic Properties by Molecular Texturing Method”, which is carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serpil DEMİRCİ from Giresun University, has been decided to be supported by TÜBİTAK.

In the project, the synthesis of unique hybrid molecules, all of which can be tested in drug discovery studies, will be realized by combining the Propofol-like 2,6-diisopropylaniline core from the amino end. The ligand binding types of the synthesized new hybrid molecules on the GABA-A receptor will be revealed separately by molecular docking technique and docking studies will be carried out to examine their anesthetic properties, and then studies in which animal experiments can be carried out by obtaining ethics committee approvals of the molecules that will be active will be an important step for the design of new projects. Investigation of the anesthetic activities of these molecules will also be carried out for the first time.
