Omics Laboratory

General Information

The studies carried out within the scope of Omics Technologies focus on developing tools to obtain information about metabolic processes in humans, the discovery of miRNAs, proteins or other metabolites that can be used in the diagnosis or treatment of cancer or rare diseases, as well as integration of these biomarkers into biosensors. To do this, several techniques are utilized in addition to basic molecular biological methods based on PCR and gel electrophoresis. For instance, high-content-screening imaging systems for cellular phenotyping studies and flow cytometry with cell sorting capability to sort and culture special cell populations. Basic genomic studies can be performed by Sanger Sequencing. In addition, proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics and glycobiology studies can be carried out by means of mass spectrometry. In addition to all this, Raman spectroscopy is also utilized, which is a powerful and promising technique that has the potential to provide a non-invasive sample analysis in patient samples or cell lines inexpensively, easily and effectively.
